Dr. Wallace’s research focuses on quantitative studies of scholarly productivity, the nature of research and evaluation in library and information studies, and education for library and information studies.  Dr. Wallace is Statistical Data Coordinator for the Association for Library and Information Science Education and editor of the annual Library and Information Science Education Statistical Report. He also serves on the editorial board of the Interdisciplinary Journal of Information, Knowledge, and Management.

Dr. Wallace joined the faculty of the School of Library and Information Studies in 2008. His more than thirty years of experience as a library and information studies educator include faculty and administrative appointments at the University of Oklahoma, Kent State University, Louisiana State University, Indiana University, and the University of Iowa. He holds a Master of Arts in Library Science from the University of Missouri-Columbia (1977) and a Ph.D. in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champagn (1983).

Dr. Wallace's textbook, Knowledge Into Action:  Research and Evaluation in Library and Information Science (Libraries Unlimited, 2012), co-authored with Dr. Connie Van Fleet from the University of Oklahoma School of Library and Information Studies, explores the application of research principles and methods to the understanding of library and information science processes and the solution of problems related to library and information science.  Dr. Wallace is the recipient of the Beta Phi Mu/Information Use Management and Policy Institute Distinguished Lecture Award, the ALISE Award for Teaching Excellence in the Field of Library and Information Science Education, the American Library Association Carroll Preston Baber Research Grant, and the American Library Association Library Research Round Table Jesse Hauk Shera Award for Research.
