About: The University of Alabama Student Chapter of the American Library Association gives students at SLIS the opportunity to participate in varied projects from organization of the winter book drive to participation at local elementary schools. Regular social events are planned for members to socialize and develop networking skills. All SLIS students are welcome to join!

About: Founded in 1936, the Society of American Archivists is North America's oldest and largest national archival professional association. The student chapter serves as a means of introducing new archivists into the profession, as well as enhancing education by providing an additional focus for students to discuss archival issues, identify with the profession, and engage in professional activities. - SAC (Student Advisory Committee)
Purpose: - To represent the interests of the students and convey them to the SLIS Director, faculty, staff, and alumni -To organize or coordinate events, trips, or changes in SLIS which will help the widest possible portion of the students - To conduct fundraising activities and events which promote the entire SLIS. We also serve as peer counselors. This means that should you have a question or concern about the program, you may talk to us and we will be glad to give you advice and help you the best we can.
