MFA Admission Requirements

We accept up to eight new students each year. Our students are highly motivated and come from various undergraduate backgrounds and work experiences.

Prospective students should submit a portfolio of their work (in their area of experience), and if at all possible be interviewed by the book arts faculty.

Applicants may submit scores from either the Graduate Record Examination or the Miller Analogies Test in support of the application for admission.

Information about the GRE is available from the Educational Testing Service, Princeton, NJ 08540. The MAT is given by the testing service of most colleges and universities and may be taken by appointment. Applicants should plan well in advance so that examination results are available when needed to support an application for admission.

Applications for admission must be completed at least six weeks prior to the registration date for the term for which admission is sought. Application materials with specific instructions may be obtained from either of the following addresses:
